Who am I ?

It can be said that my art career started in my university days.

I studied English philology and enter the world of written art at first . Then, during my university education I attended ceramic classes of “Atolye Camurdan”. There, I begin to expand my art vision and add third dimension to my expressions. It was great to work with the ceramic artists who always have the idea of merging clay with other materials especially with glass…

In 2005, I  enrolled Istanbul Glass Furnace and  I work with Julie Anne Denton for 15 days. I was so lucky for meeting glass with such a great artist who makes flamework art my passion. It was my first meeting with glass and flame. The outcomes were just tiny beads yet the effect on me was huge. I felt that I could not be away from flame anymore. And it happens so.

At the end of  2006 I opened Karma Design Studio with my partner  Fatih Duruerk where we can create a world with all glass (using fusion, cast and flameworking techniques.) Till then I have been working on glass beads and human figures in my studio Karma, teaching flameworking technique to the inclined people and sharing my knowledge with the flameworkers in Turkey and other parts of the world. I also do my best for my ideal to gathering all flameworkers in one page and create easy communication with each other. For this aim I use facebook for now. What is Karma  Design Studio?

Karma Design Studio was an utopia while we were meeting with glass in Glass Furnace in 2005.

2005-2008 were full of experiments with glass and life. Trials ,errors, money savings for studio setup costs etc..
Finally in 2008 April we founded Karma in Denizli for serving for 3 big aims:
The first one is to meet the people with glass. To spread the glass art in the city and the country. To be in contact with the world and expand their knowledge. For this aim we arrange glass workshops in 3 branch of glass (flameworking,fusion and casting), set-up studios for the beginners in glass and teach glass techniques professionally in long terms from A to Z.

The second one is our IDP Project. It is Recycle Design Project in English version. We warn the people about fading away of the world and call them to consuming less. We realise this by creacting art pieces from recyles bottles. We work with the schools and municipalities.

The last thing that we do is to create living spaces for the people. We work as custom design and usually work with the interior architects or the people who are not happy with their house and seeking for small solutions. We use wood,glass and clay as our media to design and produce mirrors, seperators,wall panels etc..
